This qualification is for anyone responsible for the supervision of mental health first aid practice in the workplace

Course Duration – 2 days
Students will be able to
- Define mental health
- Identify factors that can affect a person’s mental health
- Explain the role of a mental health first aider
- Outline advice that should be provided to a person suffering from a suspected mental health condition
- Explain when to contact the emergency services in respect of a suspected mental health condition
- Identify signs of stress and explain how stress can be managed
- State potential effects of alcohol and drug abuse on a person’s mental health
- Demonstrate application of the first aid action plan for mental health
- State key factors in providing a positive mental health culture in the workplace
- Explain how to implement a positive mental health culture
- Describe the signs and symptoms AND the support and therapy provided by professional health care providers for the following mental health conditions; depression, anxiety, PTSD, self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, personality disorders, bipolar, psychosis and schizophrenia
